Meet Wilmington, NC Oral Surgeon Dr. Wilson

Graham “Grey” Wilson was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, and was raised in the town of Goldsboro, NC. He graduated as valedictorian from Spring Creek High School in Goldsboro, NC.

While in college at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, he began volunteering at the St. Mary’s Dental Clinic. His time with mentors and friends at the clinic provided the foundation for his future in healthcare and specifically Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Following completion of his OMFS residency, he practiced for 3 years as a partner at a group private practice in Richmond, VA. He and his family have relocated to Wilmington to be closer to family and the coast and are excited to help the people of Wilmington and surrounding areas.

His wife, Hallie, is a physical therapist and works at Bodies in Balance in Hampstead, NC.  They have three daughters, Ava, Emma, and Sloan.

Education and Credentials

Dr. Wilson graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2008. Dr. Wilson received his D.D.S. from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 2012, where he graduated with distinction. He then went on to complete his residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at VCU in 2016.

He became board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2018.

Community/Volunteer

Dr. Wilson has been participating annually in Mission of Mercy Dental Projects dating back to his college days at UNCW, which continued throughout dental school, residency, and now during his time in private practice. While in Richmond he regularly volunteered at Crossover Health Ministry, providing care for indigent patients. He now volunteers at the St. Mary Clinic in downtown Wilmington. Dr. Wilson is honored to be the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for UNCW athletics. He and his wife are both members of Port City Community Church.

Honors

Dr. Wilson was voted by his peers as a “Top Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon” in Richmond Living Magazine.

He also received the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dental Student Award, as well as the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics Dental Student Award from the UNC School of Dentistry.

Research/Publications

Dr. Wilson has co-authored multiple articles and a book chapter in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery literature. He presented on the topic of horizontal ridge augmentation to facilitate dental implant placement in the Dental Implant Session at the AAOMS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. in 2016. He frequently lectures to study clubs on topics including complex dental implant rehabilitation, implant placement in the edentulous patient, bone grafting and ridge augmentation, 3rd molar management, medical emergencies, and head and neck pathology.
